Service Pack 2: Anyone getting it?

I personally am going to hold off getting the update until I hear more news about the software that supposedly "runs differently." I don't want to install the service pack and then have to get visual studio working again because of it or something like that.

What about the rest of you? Anyone already install it?

I'll wait until the first patch for it comes out and then install it.

Haven't had any problems with it here. I also turned off the firewall and automatic updates, but there haven't been any software issues that I've noticed so far.

Windows update delayed for SP2 according to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5737993/.

REDMOND, Wash. - Microsoft Corp. has delayed automated distribution of a major security upgrade to its Windows XP operating system, citing a desire to give companies more time to test it.

The update, dubbed Service Pack 2, won't be available to companies that use Windows XP Professional until at least Aug. 25, Windows product manager John Murchinson said Tuesday. The rollout had been scheduled for Aug. 16.
You mean it hasn't been fully tested yet!?

It has been fully tested by users of RC1 and RC2, but they want people like me who downloaded the network install version to report conflicts that they haven't discovered yet, but I haven't had any trouble, minus needing a patch for Nero. No biggie.

What a great update that seems. I think I'll pass on that one. I use a bunch of that software.

Here's a great site fully explaining raw sockets and the stupidity that was including them in XP. http://www.grc.com/dos/intro.htm
I'll admit it takes a little reading but it's worth it. So far I have been unable to download SP2 from anywhere in MS, even autoupdate.

I installed it and it fcked with my internet connection/VPN client... just turn off the firewall and you won't have a problem with those programs in the list. if you actually read it the Knowledge base article posted in these very forums, you would know that it's just the firewall messing with some programs.

I do have to say it really looks bad that there's over 10 microsoft programs that the firewall messes with...

Since the firewall sucks anyways, just download SP2, kill the firewall, and download one of actual substance (i.e. Sygate).
