What do you think of the two? I've been sitting here...listening to my final fantasy playlists and reading some AI articles and it's brought to my mind what really is the difference between being smart and intelligent?

I like how this site describes AI and I truly find it fascinating.

"In society today many people base intelligence on academic achievement. This is highly unfair. People develop at different speeds and thrive under different circumstances. One person may peak academically at fifteen years old, another at twenty-one. Hence their achievements will be different. Everybody has different skills and trying to base a person's ability by global standards in unreasonable. The world today is obsessed with qualifications and obtaining pieces of paper demonstrating that you can use, for example, MS Windows. If someone is an Oxford University graduate people automatically assume they are intelligent. This however does not take into consideration their social ability and also whether they are just intelligent in one particular niche. For example someone could graduate with a First class degree from Oxford University in Computational Mathematics but not be able to spell very well. It could be questioned whether they more or less intelligent that someone who obtained a third class degree in the same subject from a less pretigiuous university but who can spell much better?"

I was wondering about the two definitions so I went to dictionary.com and looked up the words intelligence and smart and that kinda reiterated my view on the two words in that being smart is basically how much you know, whereas being intelligent is how fast and how much you can learn things.

I honestly think AI is a very interesting field, it's fascinating to try and figure out how people learn, and I think once we do figure that out we will have many breakthroughs in AI development.

Ponder ponder ponder

it's almost 4 in the morning and my posts are making less and less sense.....

I really liked that quote above because I've been thinking a lot about where I want to go to college, and now that I'm probably moving back to Canada, I'm looking more towards Canadian colleges/universities. Since we're moving to Calgary I'm looking at some of the universities there, but I'm also looking at waterloo and some of the universities in BC, so who knows. I've also found a girl way back from when I lived in calgary in 2nd grade (she still lives in calgary) and I used to go over to her house and play video games all the time and she's absolutely amazing, we've gone 8 years without any form of contact, but we still talk like we've never even been apart. She's also still really in to video games and is actually in to some of the stuff I do coding-wise, which is something you don't find too often in a girl. blaaah, so many things going on, too many things to ponder about at once

anything i said in the post above probably didn't make sense....but that's ok......it's not against any forum rules to have to make sense...especially in the general discussion forums, bwha
