The PC version of FF7 has a lot of bugs, though I've never heard of it failing to recognize the CDs. Does it actually get as far as the title screen, or do you get that message from a window in the OS?

Maybe you should try contacting Eidos help support; I don't know what to try.

That's very strange... all of the problems I've experienced or heard of just deal with the game freezing in various places, or problems with the sound. Do you have any independent reasons to be suspicious of your CD-ROM drive?

Really, though, I'm not an expert on this, so I can't say what else you might try. I've heard of people physically copying all the CD files to the hard drive and redirecting the CD path in the game to a directory, but I wouldn't have a clue how do to that.

I hope you have some tissues... You'll be crying
soon . Tell us when you get there, DA...

I won't spoil anything, but you people that
have already played FF7 know what I'm talking
about... One of the most memorable video game
    moments, ever.

OK; glad you figured it out. I hope you enjoy the game. FF7 is generally regarded as the most popular game of the series; though it's not my personal favorite I've played through it at least four or five times, and I even wrote a walkthrough for it once.

    Sorry, but what is ff7?

As many people seem to enjoy it I just wanted to know what it is.

    Question

    What does "rpg" stand for?

I don't really use the computer for games (as you might find out ), I only have two games, and they're not even installed:
    Supaplex
    Collin McRae I

    Good games though!

    Gades_GD,

RPG stands for Role Playing Game... I think
FF7 (PC) is really cheap right now. The PSX
    version is cheap, too.

    Stupid_Mutt,
Final Fantasy VIII rules. If you didn't like
VIII, you probably won't like X, either. It
was designed by the same team responsible for
    VIII...

    let me re-phrase

What I mean is that ff8 isnt a bad game its just not as good as 7. But you have to get to at least the end of disk 1 in ff7 to realize that its cool.

Yeah, the end of disc 1 is the "memorable video
