    FFI was the best. It all went downhill after III. Seven was good. I hated the linearity of eight. I like options. Isnt that what an RPG is all about? Its hard to find a good RPG lately. I guess I have some work to do then, no?

    I love VIII. I think VIII's characters are much
    more interesting than VII's. There's nothing wrong
    with liking VIII more than VII; it's a fantastic
    game.

    It isn't hard to find a good RPG; especially if
    you haven't played Xenogears yet. Xenogears is
    my favorite RPG. It has a deep religion-based
    story. The game took me more than 70 hours to
    complete, and every minute was pure greatness.
    Xenosaga, the prequel, is coming out soon.

    Skies of Arcadia is very, very good too. It's
    more light-hearted than Xenogears, but the
    sense of exploration is amazing. The world
    is made up entirely of floating land-masses.
    Dreamcast is $50, Skies of Arcadia is $30. Buy
    them both if you have the money; it's worth it.

    play FF5 for SNES, that is an extremely good RPG, but since it was only released in japan (remember some comment about an USA release, but not sure), you would need an emulator, pick up the rom at www.oneminuteleft.com in the SNES section, you can find the emulator too. my avatar was built with images from that game.

    okay, first problem! i'm at the part where you have to get the chocobo to cross the swamp into the cave... [sounds like zelda II... ] i've lost all hope trying to get the chocobo.. [i think it's scared of the sound of aeris' weapon...] so i've resorted to trying to run across the swamp without getting an encounter, no dice...

    help!

    There was a compilation released for the PlayStation that contained #3, #5, and one other that i cant remember. I played FF5 for a while at a friends and i found it to be very simular to 7. If you liked FF7 then you'll like 5.

    /*
    Edited a minute later:
    Wait. 5 is still kind of like 3... It must have been FF6 that was the other one in the compilation... 6 was like 7... I think.... (My memory is going, I swear.)
    */

    I dont own any Game Console whatsoever and i'm not too interested in buying one. The only games that have really ever captivated me have been for the comp (Diablo I & II, Warcraft II, Doom I & II, Privateer).

    Buy a bunch of the cheapest Greens from the kid in the chocobo barn and have one character feed the chocobo every turn until you've got rid of the rest of the enemies.

    If you really want to run across the marsh, just save every few steps and reset if the Zolom catches you. When you reload the Zolom's position will be randomized, and you can get a bit further before having to save and reset again. (I haven't tried this myself, but I've been told by others that it works.)

    I'll also iterate what I said earlier: FF5 was released in the U.S. in 1999 for the Playstation as part of the Final Fantasy Anthology package, which also contains FF6. FF6 is probably better known to those here as FF3 - the game with Terra, Sabin, etc. The number discrepancy is due to the fact that not all FFs released in Japan were also released here, and they' didn't correct this until FF7:

    The Japanese FF1 is FF1 in the US.
    The Japanese FF2 was never released in the US.
    The Japanese FF3 was never released in the US.
    The Japanese FF4 was initially released as FF2 in the US, but rereleased this August in Final Fantasy Chronicles (as FF4).
    The Japanese FF5 was not released in the US until 1999 in Final Fantasy Anthology (as FF5).
    The Japanese FF6 initially released as FF3 in the US, but rereleased in 1999 in Final Fantasy Anthology (as FF6).
    The Japanese FF7 is FF7 in the US.
    The Japanese FF8 is FF8 in the US.
    The Japanese FF9 is FF9 in the US.

    I hope that clarifies things...
