    limiting the bandwidth of computers on my network

    Hi there! i'm new to the boards! I am a college professor at yale university yada yada yada...


    anyway i'd like to know if there were any tools to limit bandwidth on my network for everyone who uses it so they dont eat up all the bandwidth that my servers use. For example all my dad does is check his email so i allow him on the network but my stupid sister downloads and uploads all this crap just to ........ me off so all the pings on my servers go haywire--leaving me with no choice but to kick her off the network. Ive had her kicked off for two weeks now so i'm feeling a little guilty. What i want to do is maybe limit the connection to her computer to like 10kb download 2kb upload--enough so she can use the internet without messing with my servers. Are there any tools that i can download that would do this? thank you. Once again I am a very skilled college professor.

    Well, you could install something like NetLimiter on her PC.

    That's actaully a pretty useful program...but i want a tool that i could use with my router that would cap her bandwidth. I'm using a linksys WRT54G if that helps.

    well how abt using a proxy on the netowrk.. I think some good proxy servers(software based) have this features...
