limiting the bandwidth of computers on my network

Hi there! i'm new to the boards! I am a college professor at yale university yada yada yada...

anyway i'd like to know if there were any tools to limit bandwidth on my network for everyone who uses it so they dont eat up all the bandwidth that my servers use. For example all my dad does is check his email so i allow him on the network but my stupid sister downloads and uploads all this crap just to ........ me off so all the pings on my servers go haywire--leaving me with no choice but to kick her off the network. Ive had her kicked off for two weeks now so i'm feeling a little guilty. What i want to do is maybe limit the connection to her computer to like 10kb download 2kb upload--enough so she can use the internet without messing with my servers. Are there any tools that i can download that would do this? thank you. Once again I am a very skilled college professor.

Well, you could install something like NetLimiter on her PC.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

That's actaully a pretty useful program...but i want a tool that i could use with my router that would cap her bandwidth. I'm using a linksys WRT54G if that helps.

What poor grammar for a Yale professor...

A proxy would fix it, but why would a Yale professor need our help??

Umm... you don't know who Xterria is? Not too quick this morning (or whatever time of day it is where you are), are we?

    I'm guessing "Jackarsery 101" and "Annoyance 110"

For everyone who is not getting the Yale Professor "joke": Exterria's younger than me, and I just finished a bowl of Cap'n Crunch. He's not a professor.

    Put into Datalog form:

    Schemes:

    Younger ( x, y ).
    CaptainCrunchEater ( x ).
    IsProfessor ( x ).

    Facts:

    Younger ( Xterria, sean_mackory ).
    CaptainCrunchEater ( sean_mackory ).

    Rules:

    IsNotProfessor ( x ) :- Younger( x, sean_mackory ) + CaptainCrunchEater( sean_mackory ) ?
    IsProfessor ( x ) :- NOT( IsNotProfessor(x) ) ?

    Queries:

    IsProfessor ( Xterria ) ?

Clearly the output contains no tuples, and therefore it is a contradiction that Xterria is a professor and a tautology that he is not a professor.
