    the next ARPA

Since arpa basically turned into the www. I was watching T3 and one of them made a reference to the civililan internet that a virus was attacking. got me wondering - since i don't know much about networking - if whether or not the military has their own network like the net to exchange info and the like. I know that's what ARPAnet was originally being developed for.
Any ideas as to the facts about this?

The Swedish military have their own network for data and telephone communication that cover the entire nation.
It is based on both wire and wireless communication via radio links. The locations of the base stations is classified.

This network is non-movable, but we also have a completly movable and flexible system that supports both IP and telpehone communication.

Shows a transmission unit in a non-tactical environment (it was early in the education). The antenna is not at full height (21,3m) either.

So, the Swedish Army has two networks of their own, one with mobile transmission units and one without. The Navy and Air Force has their own mobile systems as well, but I don't know much about them. The anti-air forces in particular has advanced intellegence networks.
I know a lot about the system in the Swedish Army, though, so feel free to ask.

I was wonder, if there are any other dnd/rpg nerds that instead of thinking about the militar network -- immediatly thought of the advanced role players association? You know the ones that go out and have dnd games in real life dressed up in character costumes etc?

I want to cry--but I'm going to go play come war craft 3 first.
