anyone been able to use opera? I have tried to have it identify as everything gmail makes me use crappy IE
It doesn't work with Opera because they're using ActiveX and there's no way that Opera would open up that size of a security hole.
what are they using activeX for? :confused:
I'm not really sure, but if you try to use Opera, that's the excuse they give you for not allowing use of that browser.
I would imagine they might use it for some of the interaction (hotkeys) and maybe even some of the handling. Heck, maybe part of that 1000mb is on your computer, and they're using ActiveX to access it.
That doesn't make sense at all. If it needed ActiveX controls to run, it shouldn't work with Mozilla/Netscape/Firefox/Safari on Linux or Mac, but it does.
Well, that's the reasoning they gave me that it wouldn't work in Opera. Go figure.
someone should make a fix, im done using gmail till i can use opera.

Well not exactly but some what... I am using my gmail account as my primary one now.. receive around 4 mails a day and send out around 4 or 5 a day.. but i doubt this has a bearing on the number of invites you get..Quote:

i saw it linked from another board i go to, and someone said it uses about 9 megs of ram.. i suppose high for what it is, but anyways, just wondering if anyone here has used it and what their experience is with it? and also if it links to your inbox if you click on it, i suppose it would since it is linked to your account to check it every couple minutes, but just want to make sure.. still deciding if i want to try it out..
i know there is something that can be used with firefox, but not of anything with opera, which makes sense since gmail is not yet compatible with opera.

But yeah... it does seem to take a little to load sometimes, but they might be having other problems at the moment. My little toolbar icon thingy just popped up and said it couldn't check my mail. So I wonder if their servers just went down and that's why you're seeing the slow load times!?
