    Improving penmanship

I want to be that writer who can push the pen against the paper, to produce a very elegant outcome, yet with an incredible speed. I tried to search Google for a site that tells how to improve penmanship.

This is regarding our, Western, Roman alphabete and nothing else (such as Chinese calligraphy etc.).

I'm just looking for a site to improve my pen skills. Do you know of any or can you help me search?

basically, whip out those old cursive handwriting books that you get when you are in kindergarten( schools may look at you wierd, but they do work), and work on those. Start slow, working up to perfection, then just progress to moving faster.

    We're talking about handwriting, chrismiceli.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

I'd suggest learning calligraphy. You have to pay more attention to how you hold the pen (due to the shape of the tip) to get good results. It takes a bit of practice, but your everyday handwriting definately improves.

I knew you were, I am suggesting why write when you can type. I would like to know how to write some cool fonts, but I am always typing.

    Yes, I'm back--for the moment.

If your handwriting isn't very good, it might not be because you're just sloppy; it might be because your brain is simply structured differently! Many programmers have this neurological advantage; but it has a few downsides, like poor handwriting. My handwriting will only look good if I spend an inordinate amount of time focusing on making each letter look right. Otherwise, it's chickenscratch. I'd say focus on honing your intellectual skills, not your decorative skills.
I am a programmer. My first duty is to God, then to nation, then to employer, then to family, then to friends, then to computer, and finally to myself. I code with dignity, honor, and integrity.

I think handwriting should be made obsolete, and teach kids to type instead of write. Most of these people are going to end up typing anyway, not writing. Teach them to type right off the bat, and they'll be excellent typers that can type well over 150 WPM. It would make teachers' jobs so much easier too.

Only thing is, governments are too worried about embezzling tax money than spending it on education, so it'll be a long time before most schools would be able to realistically do this. Man, I wish I went to one of those schools where all your work is done on a laptop. Critics say "What if the kid gets a virus or screws something up?". Well, what if somebody loses their notebook or drops it into flaming magma? . If the kid knows how to use his computer properly, they won't have to worry about viruses and screwing things up. Backup, backup, backup! Just give them a limited computer that stores all assignments on a jump drive instead of the hard drive or something.

    Uhh...Ok...

I can't even type at 100 WPM. Granted, I'm not a great typist, but I can't see anyone typing over 150WPM

Well, I'm at around 110 and I'm only 14, so I only have 40 to go, and I've still got around 60 years to go in my life.
