    Sounds like he's going to jail not for the spamming but for the
    forgery, identity theft and falsifying business records
    and the fine was for the spamming.

    But still good to see it happen

    I hate spam, and spammers. In my opinion, they are scum, no wait, even worse than scum. It really takes a low-life to think they have the right to ........ everybody off every time they log onto their computer.

    In an unrelated matter, is there any way to trace spammers? Is there an electronic trail?

    Yes. If you really work you can usually trace it. Just don't be fooled by their spoofed e-mail addresses.

    The header can give you the ip address that sent the message . But often spammers use hijacked computers to send the messages making the tracing much more difficult.
