I get these REAL-UNIVERSITY-DIPLOMAS emails once in a while too, but I've stopped getting them. The problem is that they're smart enough to make those emails semianonymous (faking the source email), and changing the title each time they send it, so it's very tough to have a special filter for these.
I heard that you can sue them if you live in the USA.

How do you get their email addresses but sending them email? They won't "tell" you their address now, of course... And I don't exactly get what you mean by sending mails when you are sleeping. I don't get that...Quote:

Get their adress and use it to send them unwanted replies. They won't notice one mail. So send them as much as you can. I can upload 16K (ADSL), so I guess they didn't like their inbox traffic of 16K * 60 *60 * 20 while I was sleeping and at work not needing my line... opps, got a GB in your inbox... sorry. Well, it won't impress them much, but it will keep their admin busy for an hour cleaning up the mess and your adress isn't worth another hour of admin work in the future, so...
Oh... one thing: Keep your address away from webpages. Or at least keep your address in a non-machine-readable form. Programming a webspider is easy, I bet there are some for download for free.
And Osk, the problem is I "don't" live in USA, well, I suppose I can sue them too in Canada...but why bother...and I first time I got the mail, I see that it was sent to all the michelle's in hotmail...then the addresses got less the next time...Uhh, lucky ppl who didn't get them again. Do they have a way of telling whether you read their mail or not?
I don't live in the USA either, but what you must do is ignore them, because they are not going to stop, and if you reply, it will not reach them because they are faking their email address. try and use filters for their most used words, such as "University" (I don't recommend this one, specially if you're looking for college), or "Diplomas", or "Bachelor" or maybe "Degree" I've done that and I almost got rid of them.
but, how do they get all thos email addresses anyway?
Oskilian
they find all the e-amil addresses for a certain host and send them in chunks in alphabetical order. like i get ones that are also addressed to things like 'dirkman@hotmail, [email protected], [email protected]'...etc
yeah, I see, when I get these annoying Real University Diplomas crap, I see that they sent the message to [email protected], [email protected] [email protected], but how do they get all the addresses hotmail has? do you think they pay hotmail to give the addresses? if so, do you think they also sell the passwords?
Oskilian
>Straight to the bin with that.......
speaking of which... you could delete your box by ignoring it for 90 days, using another one meanwhile... then reregistering with the same name / different password...
honestly i have no idea how you guys get all this junk!
yup, i get lots of spam and the junk mail option seems to be a crap. as all of the spam lands in my inbox instead of the junk mail folder even i have turned on the junk mail option. also this spam problem is rampant in hotmail. my yahoo id's is completely free from all spam.
cheers,
maybe it has something to do with your location... perhaps anyone not in the united states, lets say, gets affected... i say we have a quick demographic... so, i'm from the states... no problems... you guys? thanks! :)
I'm sorry but what is a "demographic"...I live in Canada btw and i get a ok amount of spam...
Is this post too short? Um....let's see, well it is 12:00 here and my mom is going to kill me if I don't go to bed now, so ya, cya guys! (still too short, oh well...:D )
michelle <--One more line... ^.^
im in colorado, USA, and i still get quite a bit of spam. Now im sure AOL sells your e-mail, I get like 50 spam messages a day in that crap account
I get these REAL-UNIVERSITY-DIPLOMAS sometimes. I think I got them in a couple of yahoo mails, but not all of them (I think I've got 5).
I get them in a Spanish one and in a .com one. But I live in the UK.
I hate them. I hate them. I hate them.
I use the hotmail account just for the messanger, so I don't know how good or bad it is.
Osk, I wish you luck with the universities, I hope you get to an American one. It's a good place to study computing, it's really worth.
