    Beating stick of annoying people

I'm sorry, but we really need to get a giant beating stick of annoying people here at cboard. I just replied to a post of some guy looking for someone to help him go through his code. I logically replied with the typical "you're new to cboard I guess, here's some tips" reply.

He then proceeded to bash me and declare that I seemed to "not know anything and shouldn't speak".

So, me being the person I am, I don't like having people angry at me, so I went through his hangman code (which could have been written by a 9th grader) and commented it for him over-excessively, mainly to prove the point that it's time-consuming to document other people's code and that i wasn't too happy about doing it. I could have easily in that hour of commenting finished up my news ticker for my win32 tutorial site....

I know i went overkill with the documenting, and I probably shouldn't have done it (documented his code), but the ONE thing in the world that p........es me off the most is stupid people who think they know everything, and try to put down other people blindly thinking that they'll somehow climb a ladder of intelligence by doing so.

So now i'm just angry at stupid people right now, I was getting a lot of work done on my win32 site, was in a good mood, and all of a sudden Mr. KnowItAll decides that i "don't know anything"

    *sigh*
    -ends rant-

Suppose I should get back to work on my news ticker now.

We should really get an annoying people beating stick here though....lol

I wonder which person he's talking about...

There's nothing you can really do about it. Some people are just pricks.

bah, i don't like doing that, it's very unproductive (i'm not saying that the commenting his code thing was any more productive), it's just that flame wars are stupid, and only belong in debates, not flaming new people to the boards. Cboard is an awesome community overall, and I've contributed my own stupid threads at some point in time or another I'll admit. I've been here since I started learning how to program, and since then have learned a lot of things and have matured quite a bit (I looked at some of my old posts I made last year and most of them were riddled with lols and hahas and smileys everywhere, not that i don't still do that sometimes, just not as much).

So i can see what i did to him going three ways:
    a) If he's smart, he'll learn from what everyone said and try to be more conscious of what he says in the future
    b) If he's stupid, he'll start ranting about how we all think we know everything and don't want to help new people out ever
    c) He won't even reply or acknowledge that i spent an hour of MY time to help him, even though he was a jerk

    -------------------------------------
    on a different note..
    -------------------------------------

thanks to everyone who stood up for me though, glad to see that some people care here

    -edit-
wow, just noticed i originally said there were two ways he could go, but i listed three.....glad i can count, lmao

Jverkoey, just consider you've done your good deed for today, and maybe other programmers will learn something from your commenting of the code. I know there's so many people who I've learned from at this forum that I can't even begin to count them.

you really shouldn't let some five year old ........ you off and ruin your day. if you live like that you'll never get anything accomplished(I SHOULD KNOW). if it'll make you feel better, you should flame him right back.

hehe, it's not too often that i get ticked off, i'm not really sure why i got ticked off at him, maybe just cuz i explicitly said that i intended my post as advice to him, and he was still an idiot

but that's over now, i'm over it and back to work on my other stuff

Geez you guys are horrible. What if you just crushed his dreams of becoming a professional programmer? I would feel bad for him except I don't know him at all, heh

    *sigh*

i think he's been through enough punishment, as far as i can tell he doesn't even know any of this has happened yet (unless he's signed on as a guest) because his last login was right when he posted that reply to my post.

I didn't really intend to punish him in the first place, he just made a stupid reply without thinking first and hopefully won't do it again.
