Thread: Brainstroming...

Hello Everyone,
Me and my friend were brainstroming for a idea for the final year project....

We want to know if it is possible to write applications for mobile phones ,Javabased or symbian etc where the application can access the bluetooth to send/receive data and the mic and speaker to receive/send voice data to the user...

The idea is to let people within the blue tooth area to make voice calls to each other without the use of a mobile network.. or even let a blue tooth enabled PC to make a call to any bluetooth devices that have a speaker and mic.... So java seemed ideal...

But does the java platform on mobile phones allow access to all the resources on it.... and is there enough processing power to compress voice into digital data that can be streamed over blue tooth...

We still do not have any technical info on this.. but with the amount of time we have, we can learn some new stuff...

Wow JAVA. I remember when I first got into programming I was such a java zealot. "java does everything" I was so excited. I was especially excited about j2me and its applications on the mobile industry - that and BREW. I don't know what it was that turned me form JAVA. I guess I really Just wanted to figure out what was underneath the hood of it all, and some how I turned to C - After Python.
I guess one day I will go to check out JAVA again seeing as its still seemingly the IT languge. I do envy very much however the unbelievable documentation SUN has on their language. I wish C was like that. and there is an interface for EVERYTHING!!!
I wanted to do some .xls manipulating and after being detered by COM and m$$ rubish and seeing how much work i'd have to do - come to find out JAVA has an api that makes it a cake walk - wow!!!
