One option is missing, ambivalence. ; )

WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT SUGGEST TO YOU? JAVA???
I happen to like Java, but this is not the place for a Java board. It IS the place for C boards.
Do not make direct eye contact with me.
hey i dont know anything about java. and as far as i know about java i thought it was a further extension of C++. i learnt alot about c and c++ here, assumed could learn java too.so i thought it would be appropriate.
and meanwhile when a c programming board can have a general board where we discusss everything from "german married couple no child" to "freeware sites" i thought this was more in terms here what do u say?

>and as far as i know about java i thought it was a further extension of C++.
Java syntax was based off of C, so it can be considered to be within the "C family" or "Algol family" of programming languages. But aside from that, the differences between Java and C or Java and C++ are far too great for Java to be seen as an extension. Even C++ (as an extension of C) stretches that terminology to the limit.
>and meanwhile when a c programming board can have a general board where we discusss everything <snip>
The general board is for discussions not concerning programming. It's a relief valve for off-topic threads. Because they will show up, it's better to isolate them in a specific forum rather than have them sprinkled among legitimate programming threads.
>hey how about adding another board for java.
Not specifically for Java. That was tried (a mistake in my opinion) for C#, and the results have been less than spectacular. It also suggests that the emphasis of this site would be moving from C and C++ to general programming. That would open up all kinds of problems as people would start asking for Perl boards and PHP boards and Python boards and such. It's better to leave Java to the sites that specialize in it so that we can continue to focus on one thing and excel at it instead of trying to do everything with marginal success.
>or does it exist already?
"Other" programming language questions are usually directed to the Tech board for lack of a better place.
My best code is written with the delete key.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... *deep breaths* AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..... how many times do we have to go over it? Maybe we should make a sticky or a note on the main forums page: "THERE WILL NEVER BE A JAVA BOARD ON THIS SITE. END OF STORY".
You can post java questions in the tech board. If you dont get sufficient help PM me with your java question and i will help however i can.Originally Posted by gooddevil

NO!
