    what does marriage mean in terms of taxes

    are there some special tax breaks you get if you are married, or do you have to also have kids to get the tax breaks. what else do you get when you are married. please refrain from the wiseass remarks on this one.

    Yes, you get tax breaks, and additional ones for having kids.

    im not sure about this....but i think when you are single you can earn up to $4000 (in the USA) and not have to pay taxes on it, and when you get married (no children) that goes up to $10000.

    If you marry someone who doesnt work (ie. you support them) you get an even better tax break.

    what are the laws in the US concerning people from say the middle east who have four wives, can they maintain their marriages and get even bigger tax breaks?
