Adrian... Don't hide it. We all know you are a serial killer.

Kinasz, do you really believe that people are so completely corrupt that the only way they behave civilly to each other is through fear of retribution, or promises of rewards... Which is what the motivation of religion amounts to?

I have. Quite a lot actually. I believe it was Jesus who stopped the stoning of the immoral woman, and did not encourage it.

"And again I speak unto you who deny the revelations of God, and say that they are done away, that there are no revelations, not prophecies, nor gifts, nor healing, nor speaking with tongues, and the interpretation of tongues; Behold I say unto you, he that denieth these things knoweth not the gospel of Christ; yea, he has not read the scriptures; if so, he does not understand them." - Mormon 9:7-8

Maybe you are the one who needs to read it.

Anyways, in answer to your question...

Is it that hard? Instead of completely eliminating religion, teachers could very easily encourage students to search religion thouroughly and decide if there is a religion that seems true to them.

He said "Bible". That's not in the generally accepted version of it.

That's what churches are for. Again, schools are for teaching facts, not faith.

Then you would have no problem with a class that uses the Bible as a historical text?

If they used it as a historical text in conjunction with other texts that prove the events, that'd be fine. I doubt it'd ever happen, but sure.

I was quoting from the Book of Mormon on purpose. I wasn't making a statement about stoning people.

If you want a quote about that, then that is quite easy:

"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." - John 8:7

I won't type out the entire story. Most people know the general sense of it at least.

    Yes you were...

    >>>
Stone homosexuals to death makes sense to me? i know you are just exaggerating to make a point, but still, that's something i would never encourage and the bible would never say.

    Leviticus 20:13...

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.

... which also seems pretty clear. Or are you claiming some kind of pedant point because it does not actually mention stoning?

Does it matter whether he quotes the Bible or the Book of Mormon?

Either they're both true or neither of them is true.

The Book of Mormon supports the Bible and the Bible supports the Book of Mormon.

    They both contain similar information.

Ha. I've never read the bible, but that books seems a little weird to me. Plop - did it just fall out of the sky? Where did it come from?

    Actually, you're an idiot.

If the Bible is 100% factual, Mormonism is 100% wrong. the same is true vice-versa.

That was the Mosaic Law...it was fulfilled when Christ came...He brought the higher law.

Anyways, I did not want to turn this thread into another religious flame war....let's get back on topic or go ahead and close the thread....

Like I said, you ensured that by just posting the thread.

    > Where the crap do you get that idea?

    He's not being serious.

    > Does it matter whether he quotes the Bible or the Book of Mormon?

Yes, because the issue was with the Bible. The Book of Mormon is only accepted as a book of the Bible by Mormons, not Christians in general.

    >>"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." - John 8:7

That's one passage I always wondered at...At the bottom of my Bible it says something to the extent of "the oldest manuscripts did not contain this passage..." yet I've heard numerous sermons on it and no one ever once mentioned this...

So much for staying on topic I guess
