I'm planning on going there next year (if I have the marks and whatnot), I was wondering if you guys could comment on it, so I know what to expect (the education, COOP, etc)
Thanks a lot, I'm new here

For those who don't know, Waterloo is probably (one of) the best CS universities in Canada. It's also got a great co-op program.
I've applied into the regular and co-op CS programs there, and I should be getting in. I don't know anyone doing CS there, just one guy who's double majoring in pure and applied math. Have you written any programming/math contests?
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

I have yet to write any math contests, although I do plan on writing the Euclid next week. Do you know what kind of marks people usually need to have to get it?

If you're referring to the Euclid, it's not required, but it helps to write it. For the co-op CS program, the cutoff last year was mid-eighties, and for regular it was low-eighties. Right now, I'm sitting around an 85% average, so with a provincial programming championship from last year, I should (hopefully) get in. Waterloo really likes extra-curricular stuff.

I have a few extra-curricular activites, unfortunately there haven't been any computer science contests in New Brunswick (that I'm aware of). What province are you from? Anyways, I calculated my admissions average (average of the required courses), and I'm sitting on a 91.8 - 1 (for a repeated course). Hopefully I'll get in, but they usually have a higher mark cut-off for other provinces.

Ontario.

oh, ok.
I'm stuck here in New Brunswick
With marks like that, you'll probably get into Waterloo.

posting to say that i too am applying to waterloo co-op cs
also posting to say that i do not expect to get in , but that u of t cs looks fine enough for an undergraduate degree anyway.
finally, posting to pass on advice passed on to me: do not agree to the food plan
why's that?
fancy agreement involving no food-preparation devices in your dorm + general ripoff

Is the food any good? I can usually eat anything as long as its greasy.
it's not so much the food, so much as that you give them 1000 bucks and what you get in return is less than the ordinary purchasing power of 1000 bucks

oh, ok. I will take that into account when/if I get into waterloo
Actually, where I plan to stay(St Paul's), I've heard that the food plan is worth it. You get $100 worth of food anywhere on campus, 3 meals a day during the week, 2 on weekends. Also, if you know that you're gonna be busy studying, then the cooks will actually put a meal aside for you, so you can eat it when you want to.
