    Recent Death Syndrome

Ever notice how people who have just died, unless they had committed some capital crimes, are generally overapreciated?

I think people should be like this to me when i'm alive. That'd be so much cooler. It's kinda hard to appreciate copious compliments when you are dead .

you only say good things about the dead because it is simply wrong to say bad things about them....have you ever heard a eulogy about a person who was truly nasty?? well I have, and it has painted him to be a saint like no other...oh well.

    >> simply wrong

that is interesting. For some reason i feel that, if someone's dead, it doesn't matter if they can't protect themselves: there is no way they can find out if you are badmouthing them and there is no way it hurts them. If anything, you are just getting dead spirits angry at you and we're not even sure if there are any dead spirits around.

If we disregard faith, thinking that saying the truth about someone (when they aren't around) doesn't matter is, in the least, absurd.

At least it's in GD... I think I've seen other threads like this here. In fact, this reminds me of one of those stupid flamewar-sparking religion threads in which atheists, christians, muslims, buddhists and everyone else duke it out in full pyro gear.

what's wrong with you two? I just felt like posting something halfway random. Must have i have some type of ulterior motive for everything i post? I don't understand what you are looking for exactly. This is general discussion.

And, also, this thread is not religious bashing by any means. The only way you'd see that is if you were actually looking for it.

The first post was a joke, anyway.

    Eh. I'm probably over-reacting.

    >>Irrational beliefs aside
You're belittling other people's beliefs that could very well stem from religion. It could offend people, is all I'm saying.

You don't need an ulterior motive to be destructive... "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." Careful man, I've seen innocent-looking threads like this turn nasty real quick. Anything dealing with ethics is thin ice.

faith - " Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence." (according to dictionary.com)

That's the same thing as saying "irrational belief". I don't find calling someone's belief in spirits "faith" to be offensive. It IS faith.

Eh, i don't feel like starting a flame-war. I'll just change the wording. My apologies if i offended anyone with it.

The only difference is that "irrational" has negative connotations But I'll take your point. Anyways, I think I'll butt out before I start a flame war myself
