    From CNN:
Martha Stewart, 62, was convicted March 5 of obstructing justice, conspiracy and lying to investigators about her sale of stock in the biotech firm ImClone Systems Inc.
Either they were dropped or she was acquitted on the other charges. Just because someone's charged doesn't mean she did it.

Never said she was guilty just because she was charged.

However, IMO, lying about something leads creadence to you being guilty.

    Oh found this. Kinda funny:
    From: http://news.findlaw.com/ap_stories/e...163008_21.html
CNBC and MSNBC at first reported Stewart was not guilty on some of the four charges against her in the stock-trading scandal. The jury convicted Stewart on all of the charges.

Hmm can't find any documents on Findlaw with the amended charges (after they dropped the others). Oh well.

    >>She was convicted of LIEING to the government about a phone call.

In that phone call the 'friend' told her that the govt had refused to give the go ahead to their cancer drug. This would cause the stock to crash. She decided to sell her stock before the news was made public and so avoid the loss. This is illegal.

When asked about it she submitted a false statement to the govt saying she did not know. This is illegal (and a form of perjury).

The govt offered to settle on a single charge, she refused and insisted they took her to court. There she lost. She can no longer be a board member as she is now a convicted felon.

Two stupid choices to cover up a greedy, illegal action (which she did to get money she did not need).

The point about keeping the American dream alive.

If the rich and powerful can cheat to ensure they win and you loose, how will any of you ever achive the riches you desire?

Someone has to be a high profile victim, or the small stock and overseas investors will continue to invest in real estate not stocks.
