in an 'enlightened' and 'civil' society, we would be educated enough to know homosexuality is a natural occurance and people wouldn't be judged depending on what they do in their personal lives...
Yeah. Same with rapists. Sometimes the government can be so unjust.

Jesus Christ. I can't believe you could even begin to compare rapists and gays.

I'm not. But it's "natural". I don't think people should use natural as an excuse for things. There's a lot that's natural that isn't good. I know using rapists as an example was a bit harsh, I apologize, but I think you get my point.

No one's using it as "an excuse". Homosexuality is proven to be an inborn trait. It's no more the control of the person than skin color. It's unjust to deny someone rights based on something they have no control over, especially if it doesn't hurt anyone else.

Any statistics or proof you can show me to show that it's a genetic trait can be backed up just as well with statistics about increased chances of becoming sexual predators, etc. Marriage as it is now is not a right, it's a priviledge. It was institued by Christian Churches (originally the Catholic as far as modern history is concerned, I believe), to be between a man and a woman. Now if people choose to be homosexual, I have no problem with that. Sexual preference IS a right, I think, but as the old addage goes, one man's rights end where another's begins, or something like that. Now if someone complains about a homosexuals making out in public or something, it's met with many complaints about that person being prejudiced against homosexuals. I have just as much of a problem with heterosexuals making out in public. I don't want to see that.

Bull. Marriage was around long before Christian churches. Besides, marriages don't have to have anything at all to do with the church. You can easily get married in a courthouse; that's what my parents did. The church's wishes should have nothing to do with government, anyways.

Besides, if you're so concerned about the so-called sanctity of marriage, why shouldn't there be a constitutional amendment against divorce? Why is Las Vegas allowed to hold quickie marriages? For Christ's sakes, they've got drive-through wedding chapels.

    > Marriage as it is now is not a right, it's a priviledge.

That is true, and should not be the case.

    > I don't want to see that.

What does that have to do with anything?

Wow, lot's of bush supporters here, and quite the flame as well.

I have a few things to say, I dislike democrats so much as I will NEVER vote for them, I will vote for bush long before considering democrats...democrats always screw the military and wars/battles/ whatever else. Look at vietnam and pearl harbor, and FFS look at clinton, he was a huge disgrace. Also, we have Clinton to blame for our economy...yeah that's you heard me. It takes a while for the economy to take effect. What we have now is all thanks to Clinton and his ignorance with Enron, phone lines and on and on. If you can't guess I don't like clinton. He really was a horrible president.

Bush is doing good, he went into Iraq which is what i wanted before he was in office, that SOB deserved it long before...pussy clinton couldn't do it.

Also, the UN didn't support us because they didn't think the war should be justified by WOMD, but they supported it fully otherwise. I also don't care if theres WOMD there for us to find, we kicked his ass the way it should have been, we gave him way to long to surrender, should have charged in ASAP during the night and we wouldn't have all this BS over in Iraq.

Now I am not anti-gay nor really into this issue, but I hear there are legal issues and some other mumbo jumbo crap that would make it pointless. Also, who the hell would cook?

Anyways, that should be enough to keep the fire going for the night. Those are my opinions, as extreme as they may be I do have an education and will not change my opinions nor care for non constructive flaming.

    Um... yeah.

    You're cute.

    > Also, we have Clinton to blame for our economy...

The economy was going to hell no matter who was in office.

    > his ignorance with Enron

Good thing Dubya's done so much to rectify the Enron situation. Oh, wait.

    > phone lines

    ?

    > pussy clinton couldn't do it.

Good thing the first Bush didn't do that, y'know, when we went to war the first time.

Govt, if you're as concerned as you sound about people having the right to have such strong feelings for homosexual marriage, please show a little respect for my strong feelings for the sancitity of marriage. Don't just roll your eyes at statistics about increased chances of becoming sexual predators. For someone who was just complaining about bull, that's rich.

why shouldn't there be a constitutional amendment against divorce? Why is Las Vegas allowed to hold quickie marriages? For Christ's sakes, they've got drive-through wedding chapels.
What have I ever said that would make me sound like I think drive-through wedding chapels are okay? Also rich, for someone who was just complaining about me changing the subject. "I don't want to see that" had everything to do with my reply. I have a right to think it's wrong. I have not persecuted gays, I have not personally denied them rights, so I DO have the right to think it's wrong, and protect my values too.

Your beliefs are the reason people are being persecuted, though. You can have your beliefs, but that certainly doesn't make them right.

Even if the statistics are true, aren't they just going to become rapists regardless of whether or not we allow them to get married? Heck, maybe if letting them get married wasn't such a big deal, more would find mates, get married, and stop hunting little boys and girls. I simply do not understand why letting homosexuals getting married ruins the sanctity or marriage...it's not like them getting married is going to ruin your relationship with your mate.

    EDIT:
Can you post a link to some of the statistics you've read? I'd like to read them for myself.

Not necessarily, but I won't get into this because I am no expert so there really isn't a way to tell that I know of.

    >Good thing Dubya's done so much to rectify the Enron situation. Oh, wait.

What do you want him to do, it happened.

    Never heard of the deregulation?

    He should have done more.

Don't make claims you're not prepared to back up, then. It's easy to say "Clinton ruined the economy", but it's a whole other thing to say why.

    > What do you want him to do, it happened.

Maybe use that leverage to crack down on other corporate crime? Coupla Tyco execs just went free, and they were just as crooked as the Enron guys. To turn it around, what did you want Clinton to do about it?

    > Never heard of the deregulation?

I'm not sure how I was supposed to get "deregulation" out of "phone lines", but I'll bite. I'm not real informed on the deregulation of the telephone industry, so why don't you tell me 1) why it's Clinton's fault and 2) why it's such a bad thing.

    > He should have done more.

Who should have? Bush? Why's this a point against Clinton, then?

    > There's a 12 page thread on Gay Marriages at the RPGToolkit Message Forum if you want to go there...

Not really. We have a forum so we can discuss things here, not so we can go to other pages.
