    Irony for gibson film

    http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/South/03/....ap/index.html
ROME, Georgia (AP) -- Tickets at one movie theater screening Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" are being deemed decidedly unholy.

The number 666, which many Christians recognize as the "mark of the beast," is appearing on movie tickets for Gibson's film at a Georgia theater, drawing complaints from some moviegoers.

The machine that prints tickets assigned the number 666 as a prefix on all the tickets for the film, said Gary Smith, owner of the Movies at Berry Square in northwest Georgia. The 666 begins a series of numbers that are listed below the name of the movie, the date, time and price.

"It's from our computer and it's absolutely a coincidence," Smith said. "It has nothing to do with the film company or any vendor. It's completely in our computer."

In the Bible, the book of Revelation says 666 is the "number of the beast," usually interpreted as Satan or the Antichrist.

Several patrons have made comments about the numbers, and one person who was uncomfortable having 666 on her ticket asked for a pass to be substituted for a ticket.

"A lot of people have asked what the numbers mean, some said it seemed odd, some said it was inappropriate," said theater employee Erica Diaz.

The movie, which opened Wednesday, is a bloody depiction of Christ's final hours and crucifixion.

yeah - I'm also hearing stories about the actor being struck by lightning and being completely fine just seconds later. If you ask me, there are WAYY to many urban legends coming out of this movie. But I sense an upcoming religious flaming, so with that I will just say I think it's a prank from someone at the theatre, and I'm going to get some Chinese Food.

Gibson also claims that every person working on the set, be they atheist, Jew, or whatever, converted to Christianity.

A lady died of a heart attack watching it the other day. Not real surprising, considering how powerful this sounds like it is.

My views on religion are pretty well known around here, but I'd still like to see this; it sounds pretty good.

I learned something interesting today. From what I've heard, in the Bible, it says Jesus was crucified by the Jews. Well that is historically incorrect. The Jewish people did not do crusifictions. They did stonings. The Romans were the ones that crucified. Interesting little dohiggy.

I saw it on Sunday afternoon. After the movie ended, there was complete silence in the theatre for about 3-4 minutes. It was really good and really powerful.

Watch the movie, it was the Romans. The Jews wanted him crucified, and by law had to go to the Romans to put a criminal to death. So maybe technically the Jews didn't crucify him, but they were the ones who had him put to death

JaWiB is correct. The Romans did the crucifying, but they were practically forced to by the Jews. The Romans found no fault in Jesus.

That's why when Jesus is on the cross he states, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do." He is talking about the Romans. The Romans were just following orders from their commander, who in turn was reluctantly performing the will of the Jews so he wouldn't have a revolt on his hands.

I agree with XSquared...movie is extremely powerful.

Jawib and David are also correct. That is why Jesus says to the jews: "My blood is on your hands", but because of fears of antisemetism that line was taken out....sadly.

Ah. Humor? And remember, I did predict a religious flaming - this thread had "FLAME ME" written all over it. They should me some tags for that...

Yes humor...I don't belive the mistake was 100% innocent. The computer might have assigned the number but management should have caught and changed it. Whats so flameable about it?
