    Strong Paranoia

Ok. I have a huge issue. I have a 24/7 sence of paranoia in EVERYTHING I do. I literally go back and check things over and over. Like tonight about an hour ago I got food out of the refrigerator, and checked to make sure I properly closed the door 4 different times. I check things to make sure I did them right, then I check the way I checked, then just do another check over and over. I also just have a normal sence of paranoia in general. I am always sort of untrusting in friends. I mean I just can't really relax. It can be helpful at times, but for the most part, it just takes away from my life. I can't move on from anything, I can't really trust people even though I have no reason not to, and I just have an overall sence of paranoia. Does anyone really know much about this at all? I'm really hesatent about going to my parents and telling them this. If I tell them about all this, I just know they are going to think I'm psycho or something. Anyhow, I don't really know what I'm asking for but here is what I'd like to know.

Cures, information, possible reasons, anything. Is this just me being some screwed up psycho or is there maybe a disciece? Hell it's so bad right now, I can't even spell.

Not to insult you, but professoinal help, counseling, or a trusted adult friend would be the best route to figure this out. Simply talk to them calmly and try to explain things well.

An online message board dedicated typically to programming and computer technology is really not the best of places to discuss possible psychological problems.

I think threads like this should be interupted by moderators possibly wishing the original poster the best, then suggesting real, in-person physical help and support prior to closing the thread.

Blimey, none of you can spell. Atrocious spelling.

Anyhow, I think you have had a thread like this before have you not?

Like the man says, lay off the drugs. Or beer. Oh wait no, ignore the beer part.

Go talk to a doctor. Even your family physician (say you're going in for a physical or something) should be able to give you some advice. I'm sure it'll be better than what we'd give you.

Why does everyone come to message boards with health problems?

Because we're obviously WAY smarter than professionals.

If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I'm fairly certain you've stated you use drugs. Saying you aren't an addict is jut denial.

I agree. This does sound more like OCD than a general paranoia.
I am a programmer. My first duty is to God, then to nation, then to employer, then to family, then to friends, then to computer, and finally to myself. I code with dignity, honor, and integrity.

Don't worry about being called some psycho...everyone has OCD to some degree. Just go seek a professional to try and solve this before it gets worse(if it does).

IDK if this will help but a movie I watched in psychology about OCD showed the doctor that was helping the patients. He would have them do what they were afraid of, like touching a door handle, only counting the change once, only checking to see if they bumped the other car once and so on. So from now on try to only close you fridge door once and let it be.

Note that I am not a psychologist or by any means to treat people. I simply saw that is how people were treated with bad cases and I am not sure if it would work in all cases or yours. Feel free to try the free treatment but whatever happens is not my fault.

Because it's a lot easier than telling your parents you think your crazy.

I don't recall ever suggesting going to your parents at all. I said go to the doctor for a physical.

    Ah, but doctors cost money.

And since he suffers from paranoia, would he trust the doctor?
