IDE: emacs + make + gcc and proud of it.
eibro managed an IRC outside of cprogramming for cprog and it was big for awhile but there isnt a large enough demand. The problwm was that most of the users were newbies and they all abandoned it because they wanted to talk to vets.
I have an IRC channel, just started, devoted to programming. It's on irc.freenode.com, channel #programming . So if people want to sit there and hang out, or chat, it would be great to help the channel grow.
You ever try a pink golf ball, Wally? Why, the wind shear on a pink ball alone can take the head clean off a 90 pound midget at 300 yards.
If you just post the question on the forums, it'll likely be answered quickly, more completely, and more correctly than on an IRC channel. There's no reason to have one.

Well, it's fun to chat sometimes too And I think it's easier to identify strange bugs when you can interact in realtime.

Well, to each his own I guess. I love IRC, I never liked IM as much.

If you want to, whenever someone asks about the CProg IRC channel, you could refer them to yours. I don't think an "official" channel'll be set up again, though.
