    SAT info

I'm preparing for the SAT, and was wondering what you guys (the ones who have taken it, that is ) think about it. What should I focus on? Also, do you have any sites / books I could look at to prepare? Thanks for any info !

take the practice test put out by the collegeboard... go to your guidance office (or wherever you signed up for it) and they should give you a flyer explaining what's on it and a practice test...

    and go here every day...

I agree with major, do take the practice exam...I took it for both the SAT and the ACT.

I've never done anything else, no courses, no extra studying. I forget my SAT score at the moment but I scored fairly high. I took the ACT 3 times (not including practice) and each time got a 28....

    anyways, GOODLUCK

If you're good at math, and have fairly strong verbal skills (largish vocabulary, a bit of grammar, and generally know what sounds right), you should do fine.

    >>largish vocabulary

agreed, that is the hardest part....some of the words I have never heard of before the test.

*shrug* I didn't study a single bit for the SAT I, but I scored 1470. I decided never to take it again. It's nice when things just work out the first time. I've had friends who have improved their scores by 100-200 points just by studying.

    (A bit off topic...) GED

I don't mean to go off topic but I took GED. Here are my skills in GED:

    Language Arts - Writing: ~490
    Math: ~500
Language Arts - Reading: 2 questions away from 410
Science: 2 questions away from 410
Social Studies: 8 questions away from 410.

I passed Writing and Math and failed Reading, Science, and Social Studies. I hate Social Studies (it's all about history).

I'm going back to Daytona Beach Rehabilitation Center on February. (Daytona Beach Rehabilitation Center is for the blind and visually impaired (meaning vision loss) students and it's not K-12 School. It's a special kind of school that is designed for GED, Math, Writing, Computing, Cooking Skills, Arts and Craft, etc. and all the blind/visual impaired adults from all over Florida came to the Rehabilitation Center.)

Never studied or took a "pre-test"... I did fine and it was all based on knowledge I had before. I think if I could take it now I would probably ace it.

agreed. Thats what I ment by my post to. If you are a good student in highschool all those tests should be cake....unless you are a very bad test taker, in that case you do need some special courses.

yeah, I was planning on gaming the test after I had gotten some college courses out of the way, and inflate my score;however, I then found out that if you have more than 12 college course units, alot of schools have you take a transfer form instead of standard undergrad form(Cornell for example, does this).
