Quite possibly. To me the really peculiar thing about it is the fact that Blizzard is going to release WoW sometime this year (hopefully). This game will be huge if it lives up to expectations, so the timing just seems really strange for a man in his position to make a move like this. I think there is a little more to this story.

Or maybe he just wanted a change. Like Dante said it would have been a lot of stress, maybe hes tired of the game industry (or is one of the people smart enough to realise the IT industry isn't what it used to be, so hes going into a field more stable).

Very true, I imagine releasing a title with as much press as WoW is getting is extremely stressful in their personal lives and to the future of their company.

However, you really can't compare the game industry to the IT world. Two different things, really. Game development is a 60 Billion dollar industry in the U.S alone, and has steadily increased over the last decade while only showing signs that it will continue to do so by leaps and bounds. I have seen projections that predict the game industry will surpass the film industry in sales within a few short years. The money and the talent are there to develop what equates to relatively cheap entertainment for consumers of all ages. It really is a winning a combination for all parties involved ....

Wow, wouldn't it be great to be in the games industry... programming something thats a lot of fun, and you actually have job security!

I guess the games industrys resurved for the more l33t among us though....
