would you shoot at people throwing stones?

    http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...d=540&ncid=716

Personally, I think you're asking for it if you throw stones at someone with a rifle...I don't care WHAT kind of a crappy situation their government put you in...YOU DONT' THROW STONES AT DUDES WITH RIFLES...

Is a rock a deadly weapon? If it is then yeah shoot the bastard. If not then no you can't.

IMO it is and while one person throwing rocks and weaving sticks around isn't cause to open fire a crowd of people doing the same is.

Messing with people with rifles is not the brightist idea in the world.

I guess I was thinking about this scenario:
You've got a few isolated people not in a crowd that KNOW you have rifles (because it's not like you're hiding that fact) and they are throwing STONES, not just wimpy little pebbles, but skull crushing stones, and it seems apparent that they think you won't do anything about it.

I bet you could find a way to deal with those people without actually shooting them...

In real life... if I had a gun with me... and someone threw a rock of any size at me... I would shoot them.

If I felt that I was in danger of receiving serious bodily injury or death, I'd have no qualms about letting the lead fly.

Stun guns maybe? Why does violence always have to beget more violence?

It's a little something called "self defense". I guess you would just sit there and take it? Maybe sing a song or offer to give them flowers?

    STFU.

Thats all nice and good but they have to have stun guns to begin with and its a military unit not a police unit.

Yeh right. This is not ablout your local streets. Jesus

and the 1st Battalion of Britain's Light Infantry. Homemade bombs exploded during the melee, but not injuries were reported.
And the guys above only had sticks and shovels. So, lets stun them-oh dont worry about their bombs.

I'd use non-lethal weapons. I saw on tactical-to-practical (tv show on History Channel) about these things. The coolest were paint-ball based except they exploded with powder that kinda chokes you a bit into submission. They shoot three times farther and faster than a normal paint-ball round so they definatly hit hard.

That's what I'd use. I'd use a machine gun of them.

Speedy are you talking about chalk bullets? If so they can still be lethal if they hit in the wrong spot.

Speaking of some non lethal (note: not non violet) alternatives, here is some stuff that the Marine Corps is activally researching:
*A substence that smells so horrible it will cause near instant vomitting, choking, and watering of the eyes. It will be able to deploy in a gas gun like device with mask protection for the troops.
*A substence that is slipper than ice. Don't remember how they were going to deploy it.

A couple other far fetched idea but they sounded cool
