What would be monthly costs for living on your own the last year in high school?
Like what things do you need to pay for, and what is the approximate cost per month?

100% depends on where you live.
Costs:
-Food
-Rent
-utilities (electrial, water, gas, sewage, trash removal, etc)
-phone
-entertainment
-car & maint
-gas
-insurance (car and renters)
These are a few of the things I could think of off the top of my head.
If you were able to do it for under $2000 a month you'd be lucky.
edit: ^^^^ Y'know what, Thantos? You're a little too fast for your own good.
Well, think about this. You need money for rent, food, and bills. Living alone, probably 1000+ a month.

Ok, now take out the car stuff, because the person would get around on a bike. And then add in another person living there.
What's the relative cost per person you think now?
And then lets add in that they're not going to live in a specific place...they'll live at school or something.
Can someone get a leg shackle for this boy please. Do you got to a private school or something? How else you gonna live at school? When I said it depends on where you live I meant what part of the country. The cost of living in a place like LA is higher then the cost in Sacramento which in turn is higher then Fresno.
so Leeman....does this have anything to do with the fact that you did not want to continue swimming?? If it does, think about how you screwed up!
Anyways, moving out at your age 99% of the time turns catastrophic. Do you have a job? how much do you make a month? Mostr entals need a deposit, and all payments will run you around $1200-1500. What about emergencies. Moving out at your age is a Stupid idea if you ask me.

It still totally depends on where you live. Check it out yourself; we don't know.

I went and figured this out once... the way I figured it, I couldn't do it without 3 other people, and it would only give us an extra $400/month for entertaimnent/etc.
that would be only $100/month, which we would have to save in case somebody lost their job. we could make it with three people, but it would mean stretching it every month.
I figured it like this:
5 $/ hour (set low to account for descrepancies)
x5 hours/day
x5 days/week
x4 weeks/month
x 4 people
---------------------------
$2000 per month
I figured on a little over $1600/month... I forgot which figures I used for that though... but as you can see, it takes four people and very little room for moving out... and we'd all have to move out at the same time so the others could survive... imagine if two of the people you're renting with get a generous gift and move out, leaving only you and a friend... now look at it:
5 $/hour
x5 hours/day
x5 days/week
x4 weeks/month
x2 people
-----------------------
1000
that doesn't leave enough money to keep going on with a $1600/month budget...
in other words: don't worry about it... you won't be living on your own for a while

Yeah I figured that out....
My job only pays $8 / hour and I wouldn't even be able to work 40 hours / week because of school. That means I'd need more people.
oh and i live in a small town in wisconsin
a few pointers: dont' forget that if even one of you decides you've had enough of living like crap and leaves, it makes it alot harder for everybody else... also, you might find it hard to get a place if you're under 21...
btw: I'm basing this all off stuff from USA/New York (not the city)

i pay 400 million a day to live in my cardboard box outside of Britney Spears's place.
Which 'a Huh?
My costs (if I didn't have a wife that helps bills):
rent: $475
home phone: $35
cell phone: $40
electric: ~ $40
groceries: ~$60
internet: $0
car payments: $250
insurance: $140
other car stuff: ~ $55
other random stuff: ~ $50
That totals to about $1150/month. Not bad, not bad at all. Even if I missed a few things, it wouldn't be more than $100. Add in that my wife helps out with about $100 of that per month and my cost of living is barely over $1000, and I make approx $1900/month and it all works out pretty well
Oh, and this is the costs of Bremerton, WA... this place is cheap, my appartment would easily cost $600+/month 20 minutes from here and $1000+/month in Seattle.
