    Internet advertising is getting annoying...

Banner-ads didn't bother me much. But now, it
seems that every site I go to has some stupid
pop-up advertisement. Usually telling me to get
    a Master Card.

Advertising wise, www.ign.com is one of the
worst sites I've been to. Go there, click around
to the different sections. You'll be annoyed.

The thing I'm most angry about, is that a lot
of these advertisements take a long time to load.
They're not just pictures. They're sometimes
little movies, complete with sound. Like here:
    Love, Henley Testimony...

I realize that these places have expenses, but
    honestly, come on!!!

i agree, there are sites i avoid completely now because of their advertisments. These sites do have expenses but advertising doesnt have to be intrusive - eg this site..

Good question.... I know a company that I will probably work for soon (owned by a friend) is one of the banners - www.liquidweb.com (for some shameless advertising)

Yeah, I know what you mean, no-one. I was surfing around once and a banner popped up, but I didn't notice it. I had my headphones plugged in but wasn't wearing them at the time. I started to hear low murmuring and was kinda freaked out before I realized the banner was talking to me!

    ironically...

just after i'd replied to this thread, maybe about 10 minutes later i just now clicked 'refresh' on my e-mail, and _bam_! comes five C Board Mailers about replies to this thread...

and secondly, the pinacle of evil in advertising, sound, is coincidentally the pinacle of life in video games... [or so you would say, maybe, ten years ago...]

Yeah - sounds on ads are a pain - especially if your in work and stupid noises come pumping out of your machine.

NS6/Mozilla and Konqueror both have options to disable popups. Dunno about other browsers, since I don't use them.

I use a nice program called Proxomitrion. It disables popups, the geocites branding, and a load of other things.

Man, Cliff Bleszinski (the high-fashioned Epic
Level-Designer) wants to be me. I think he's
    reading this message board.

I mean, I post this thread about internet
advertising yesterday, and he updates his
.plan with the exact same comments.
    Eh, I'm just too cool.

Of course, I'm assuming I was first. Both
were apparently posted on 8/29. But mine was
posted on 8/29 at about 1:30AM my time.
