update:
I have a Sun Solaris Unix box and an XP machine. Most of the work will be on the Solaris. Ada compiler is Apex? or something. I'm not 100% clear on that yet because the first two days were really just paperwork and orientation. It looks cool though. Solaris is a big-endian machine from what I understand so it'll be interesting doing any cross platform stuff there.
oh, and I get a take home solaris machine too.
The project itself deals with military simulation. Actual live combat training out in the desert is monitored by an elaborate system where tanks, copters, drones all have transmitters hooked up to a monitoring system. The major software piece is a graphical representation and logging system for the higher-ups to see how the trainees are doing. I love what I've seen so far.
