That said, I almost completely agree with Ken (especially the Darwinism part ), but before we change anything we need to know what its side effects are...
Search around for water pipes on google. They Eliminate 98 to 99% of tar and the sort coming from cigarretes.

Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

Now I'm more interested in why you feel the need to protect people from themselves, though. Darwinism is .
Quite frankly I don't. As long as you don't expect sympathy or money from me, you can do all the drugs you like. Just don't expect me to have anything to do with you.

Drug use often effects more people than just the user anyway, crack $$$$$s and heroine addicts had families too, once.

Don't forget the car accidents and violence related to drug use

Other than the reasons listed here, I am not an expert but here goes.

It costs money, money better spent on other forms of entertainment.

It makes you produce dopamine falsely, which makes you addicted and you don't have much fun doing anything else besides smoke so it would be pretty hard to occasionally smoke and not get the side affects.

It dosn't really help in any way other than give you a buzz, but it has negative affects so that seems like only bad to me when there are many other forms of entertainment available without harmful side affects.

I think we should make ciggaretes and beer illegal if marijuana is, we simply educate people better in school(especially cigarretes, people at my school smoke worse than many adults I know that have horrible smoking problems.).

Our country seemingly has a lot of problems that we need to solve by better educating(population is a biggie) but with students going off and smoking and not caring about much anything else then theres not much of a point is there?

    >>Marijuana should be legal, but there's such a social stigma that it's still condemned without real proof.<<

If they make pot legal what will all the drug dealers do? Get a $300 per week job at Wal Mart? No they will sell worse drugs or turn to other crime.

You have to decriminalise all drugs. Put he distribution in the hands of doctors and use the taxes (and savings from law enforcement) to pay for counselling and rehabilitation.

Drug addiction is a disease not a crime.

    >>It should stay illegal because it is proven to have detrimental effects to health,<<

There has never been a recorded death due to pot overdose in Australia. How many die from alcohol?

Try looking up the numbers of people who die from tobacco or alcohol.

    Why are these drugs legal?

    >>It is still legal in gaming areas (pokies) though.<<

Depends on which state. The only pokies in WA are non smoking.
Why? Because the govt. makes billions from gaming revenue. Studies have found the break that going outside away from the machine gives the punter more chance to realise how much they have lost. Gaming revenue dropped nearly 35% in non smoking venues. (I worked for the only fully non smoking casino while it changed from fully smoking to non smoking, Burswood. It was only changed due to govt. regulation and the threat of employees litigation for passive smoking.)
[BTW by Aust. govt. regulation $0.63 is kept by a pokie from each $1.00 inserted.]

    >>The NSW premier here in Aus tried to get a prescription only trial up and running but it was quickly knocked down.<<

That was a heroin trial (not pot).

Carr also started the only legal heroin injection room.
Pot is decriminalised in SA, NT and soon in WA.

    >>The usage of a water pipe eliminates 99% of that risk meaning it would take a lot of usage to equil to a cigarrette.<<

    LOL!
Got a link 'cause that is an old wives tale.
Pot has higher levels of carcinogens and is inhaled deeper than cig smoke.

Not to mention the water vapour you are inhaling (changed it lately?)

It's common sence. The hot smoke travels through a body of water. The water not only cools it off, it acts like a filter. It's simple science.

Hell, it is not a drop in the ocean compared to smoking duty imposed in UK. Thats why smoking is legal.

I think we should just drop this. I didn't want to ........ off any moderators, and if we keep this up they will get mad. So mods can go ahead and close this. I'm odviously not going to get an answer.

I agree, people have been arguing about legalizing weed for decades. Us arguing here won't help anyone but just waste time and effort.

Same with alcoholics. Is alcohol illegal? Personally I believe in the legalization of pot even though I don't do any drugs. Who are you to say what someone can and can't do with their lives, especially if they do not hurt anyone else? If they smoke weed and drive, then it should be punished like DUIs. A person who is high should have the same responsibilites as a person is not high, but we shouldn't be telling people that they can't get high.

They can search your locker. If you bag happens to be in there, it's fair game. Else, if the bag is on you, they can't touch it w/out a search warrant. But, if the school is evacuated for some emergency (i.e. bomb threat, fire, etc.) and rooms are searched if your bag has something in it, I think they can confiscate it and prosecute you.
