Plus, I am sorry but I don't prize those peoples skills over people that have to operate in a pinch with no time outs or safety crews.

    Your intelligence surpasses all others...
Why care about how they feel?
Why not take their job lightly? Their job is just like any other. They do what they are told, they get a nice paycheck and they get a pension. They don't deserve praise or worship and they sure as hell don't deserve to be asked whether or not a game insults them.

All of these games are completely unrealistic. Tom Clancy is full of himself and truly has no clue. Hollywood gives you all impressions that your 'oh so wonderful' army is the best army in the world and that the CIA knows everything and is almighty. Society has created an illusion: Where the army stops terrorists from world destruction every day and the CIA monitors and knows everything. They don't stop terrorists every day, the CIA doesn't know a thing, and your army isn't as proud as your TV tells you it is. But Tom Clancy will keep making millions,TV will keep showing you helicoptors & people running and shooting guns and then talk about "We're proud americans, we're a team. Join our team. blah blah BS", and hollywood will reinforce the illusion that you all believe in.

Well if you are from Canada, next time you run into an American Soldier you can say "Thank You", since you being on our border protects you more then you know or are willing to admit.

    lol

My last post was not disputing our relation to the U.S. But since you brought it up I will admit that Canada doesn't spend much money on its military and being next to the U.S. is probably a wonderful thing incase if we ever get into a war.

Never the less, american(Canadian included) society still lives in that illusion. The U.S. army is not all 'touch and go', save the world, etc.. Your government does not have millions of spy planes and satellites around the world, knowing everything that happens; it also does not monitor everything on the internet like some people think; and they don't have lasers in orbit to protect you from nuclear bombs. In fact, most of the things that your media tells you in regards to technology is completely inaccurate.

Except that their job directly protects us. If you're not grateful for that, you're a fool.

    >>the book rainbow six<<

That was SUCH a good book. It was quite long but I just couldn't put it down. The part where the child gets executed in the fairground had my body frozen, it was so well written. I have read a couple of Clancy books since then and unfortunately I don't think they nearly measure up to it.

I don't know if grateful is the word that I would use. A military is not a gift from the government, it's something that is needed in the world at this stage. I am grateful for the people who gave their lives in the wars, if that's what you mean. However, it is also their job. They know the conditions which they applied under and they are taken well care of because of it.

Yes, they do directly protect us... but if they become insulted because of a game I wouldn't care. I would side with the game producer before some cry-baby from the army.

Also, I don't think anyone from the army is insulted by these games. They probably look at how unrealistic they are and laugh. But in the event that a game producer does get a letter from someone in the army complaining at how he feels insulted (which wouldn't happen, or at least wouldn't reach the public) I really couldn't care less about his feelings, and neither should any of you.

Plus, these games practically praise the army anyway.

They make it look as though their jobs are the most important jobs in the world and that they kill terrorists & bad people who threaten life every day.... which is not what the army actually does. Army's also help out other countries and help out from natural disasters. Killing people is the one thing that militaries do the least of.

Games are for entertainment. The fact is that people would rather shoot others (in a game) than move a character back and forth moving sand-bags.

yeah, when i play a game i want to
    1) turn my mind off
    2) shoot stuff

i absolutely hate people that actually waste thought and energy playing games (strategy games), games should be for the end of the day when you've turned your mind off

    Howdy,
Well Xei I'm glad you have enlighened me as to the state of Americas military and intelligence comunities. Without brilliant minds like your I would surely live in a total vacuum. In fact I'm going to call the pentagon right now and let them know they have no technology nor any capabilities to kick the sh!t out of any military on this planet.

The satellites were from the Star Wars project that was created and subsequently died in the '80s without succeeding.

I thought the U.S. military and the soldiers who have submitted their independent lifestyle to serve it would be glad that a computer game is glorifying the use of war as a legitimate political strategy. I agree with Michael Moore's assertion in Bowling for Columbine that American culture promotes violence too much.

Except when the performance of their job actually makes us less safe. Americans have been less safe in many countries since the invasion of Iraq; and, within the United States, it can be suggested that Americans are also less safe because this invasion has provoked more potential terrorists.

UnregdRegd those decisions are not their's to make. The military doing their job does make us safer, the politicans making bad decisions make us unsafe.
