    Blender: The usefulness of

My brother just downloaded Blender. Hes taken a couple of 3D animation courses but all the good animation programs cost mega bucks. He was using TrueSpace 2 previously but its kind of lacking to say the least.

Blender looks to have all sorts of Game Making options.... why? Is it really game focused (which we really dont need) or is it still really good for producing 3D objects/scenes/galleries?

Are there any other good animation programs out there that you've used yourself and know are good? Its not animations that i need so much as 3D Objects to be used in my games.

    Any tips appreciated. Thanks.

Blender is wonderful. The "Game engine" is bad marketing. Think, physics engine with AI capabilities and you have a very, very advanced 3D animation studio.

I came from using LightWave 3D to using Blender. I consider LightWave to be an exceptional tool.. (I still use it now and then.. version or two old) Blender is easily hot competition. It use to be pay, but now it is free - and this seems to be another bad marketing scheme, since people only think pay software is good.

The interface is a little difficult at first but the bottom line is - I haven't found anything a competing 3D animation studio has to offer that can not be accomplished (often easier) in Blender. Hard to believe, but you've stumbled upon a gold mine. Buy the book. It is worth it.
