SinAmerica, every thing that you said was practically a non sequitur. A couple of definition's which may help you understand are: packet and megabit. If you remain confused then I am sorry, there is no hope for you.

I did a test once... i connected to MSN and just sat idle on the desktop. After leaving it this way for 2hours, i check my bytes sent/recieved. 134Megs sent, 13Megs recieved.

That is totally insane! Even I use 512kbps connection sometimes I only get 13 KB/s.

I really don't think your understanding what im saying here. I'm NOT talking about downloading from one source, im talking about total bandwith between client and server.

Hmm after reading the "log" I have only one thing to say: Man you are such an ass.
Yeah i know, but to communicate with ass's you have to become one. Or atleast learn thier language.

That is totally insane! Even I use 512kbps connection sometimes I only get 13 KB/s.
Sad, but unrelated if you read my post.

    Umm what?
A couple of definition's which may help you understand are: packet and megabit
Umm those arn't definitions those are words.

If you remain confused then I am sorry, there is no hope for you.
Yes i am a little confused... do you mean for me to go and look up those definitions? We'll i did and heres what i got.

Packet A short block of data transmitted in a packet switching network.

    Megabit
    1. A unit of data equal to 1,048,576 (2e20) bits.
    2.One million bits.

Ok so now that we have the definitions, are we any clearer on what you're trying to say? I don't think so. You're just spouting definitions and claiming they have something to do with my problem. You don't say in what way they are related. If you remained confused as to why I remain confused then maybe you should go pick up this.

Atleast flame with some kind of evidence that you graduated high school. Or that you pretend that you did. And if we're talking about non sequitur's here than maybe you should go and find out what words mean before you use them. Expecially when you're commiting what you're accusing. People might think you a hypocrite.

Me too, i would never do such a thing to a real tech. My mom is a tech for The Hartford, so i know how it can be. This person wasnt a tech though, it was either A. an AI program, B. someone who has no idea what they are talking about, or C someone who actually knows what theyre talking about, but works with a company that mandates they act like idiots. There is a line between being courteus and being obnoxiously nice. These guys are obnoxiously nice.

You're sure this isn't total sent/recv'd for the week/day/etc? Try disconnecting and reconnecting to see what the sent/recv starts at.

    >>download speeds wouldn't differ much.

actually, that's due to the OS, if you do things like tweak the windows registry, you can get faster downloads. I run 7-8k downloads at a fairly constant rate...and I only connect at 28.8

That's on the verge of incredible.
But if it's true, I'd love to know how to do it.

It's actually pretty simple when you think about it, here's a helpful link:
    www.winguides.com
if you drill through the registry tweaks section you'll get to a list of recommended tweaks for tcp ip. Those are what you want. Things like MTU/MSU are the main ones to tweak. Sliding windows size can make an effect too.
