They say that if you play a Windows Install CD backwords, you hear satanic messages. That's nothing; play it forward and it installs Windows.

alright, im getting redhat 9 from

    http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=7

iev downloaded and burnt CDs 1 and 3. but everytime i try to download number 2 i keep getting an error saying connection to the website was lost after an hour or so of downloading. so i found this ftp site.

    http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/9/en/iso/i386/

the top 3 files is shrike-SRPMS the bottom 3 are the CDs i been getting from the first location, so im downloading shrike-i386-disc2.iso . but i dont get what the SRPMS are...

I'd say redhat is really good, don't go mandrake. But just so you know there will be no further redhat distros after 9...they're working on redhat enterprise now, which you'll have to pay for. Look into fedora though...

As for your network, redhat 9 does it pretty easily. Explain your setup...do you have a router? etc...

    software/library packages in RPM format.

EDIT: just incase i wasn't too clear, the cds are filled with rpms. so if u need a dependency package, it's a good idea to check the cds b4 u go downloading from the internet.
