I am younger than you, yes, but I fail to see how that makes me a bigot.

Think about what happens when you're stoned. Your mind is altered, yes? What makes you think you'd be better at something so mentally intense while your mind's not in its top shape?

And you know nothing about me - I have plenty of experience, and nothing good came out of it.

Also, it was a joke, Captain Oversensitive.

    >>> if I stand up once an hour for a cigarret break.

I find it intensly irritating that smokers feel entitled to get up for a cigarette break once an hour. Why the hell should they get breaks to feed their habit, whilst those who do not partake of such anti social activities do not.

I don't know, smoking is a pretty social activity. I was working on a project for a company while I was still in school and the majority of my team including the project leader all smoked. Well, it soon became apparent that while they were outside working on a good case of lung chunk, they were often discussing the project and making decisions that the rest of us were not included in. Yeah that sucked.

On the main topic, if your partying (however you choose to do it), and your even thinking about coding your doing something wrong. Seriously.

There aren't really long term effects of pot usage other than damage to lungs that has been proven. It does not kill brain cells, or any of that stuff that anti drug people like to say as I found out while doing a research paper for health.

    >Do you think getting stoned adversly affects your programming ability?<

    Absolutely yes. And absolutely not.

For me, it definitely inhibits my problem-solving ability, however I've found it very useful for debugging (as someone mentioned previously) as well as doing repetitive tasks which is just plain boring while sober. I frequently toke while I'm working on my Web site scripting because weed makes me even more of the pedant than I normally am, and I like my code to be nice and neat. Conversely, this causes my speed performance to decrease alongside the level of neat code, but I think that's an acceptable tradeoff as I do the Web development thing as a hobby and under no time restraints.

Of course, marijuana is a psychoactive drug, and because everyone's brain is different marijuana will affect everyone differently. To say it ultimately does or does not bring creativity is a misguided and misinformed bold judgement at best...

    >Also it is my belief that people who use the argument "it makes me more creative" to justify using drugs are just grasping at any possible reason.<

Some people might perhaps, but don't be so hasty in assuming everyone who uses that argument is just trying to justify their drug use.

Just a note: the board guidelines state that "messages relating to cracking, (erroneously called "hacking" by many), copyright violations, or other illegal activities will be deleted."

Regardless of your opinion on the efficacy and benificence of current drug laws, marijuana use is illegal in the US and other countries. Please restrict yourselves to "theoretical" discussions.

(Theorically speaking of course Webmaster) If you plan to get stoned, why would you want to code? Attention span drops to zero, and you can barely type. How could that impove coding? From personal past experience I have noticed thats usage makes me unable to do any simple program. The two should stay apart if you chose to use.

I find programming gets in the way of getting stoned (theoretically).

Im not sure about geting high but when I get drunk I do alot of things better. This, I think is because often I am thinking of 3-4 things as a time(I also think this is the cause of my stuttering). So my brain work is seperated over several topics, yet when I drink my thinking is slowed and as such I put all my (albiet slower, mind on one thing and 1/2 is better then 1/4. I even type better as often, atleast 3 times in this) I type the next word without typing the previoius ie... firstWord thirdword. So I guess in this case It might make me alittle better but this is only proven drunk not high. And this is only with a slight buzz, I hate getting ..........faced, only like 3-4 shots or 4-5 beers.

Theoreticaly thinking your example of quenching your thirst did nothing for your writing ability and I highly ... doubt you could program in such a state. As to my typing ability Zakk, I guess this goes to show you that it is not hindered in anyway, except for the possible spelling errors. Of course any theoretical state may leave you wondering how to spell byte. Well I should get back to programming or rather start programming so good luck however you choose to lead your life!
