    programming for PS2

Hey guys, I'm wondering in what language games for PS2/XBox/Gamecube programmed in?

What about older systems like genesis, or nintendo? The game cartridges had pins on it, so was the game basically one big logic circuit?

Playstation 2 can use C/C++ type languages, assembler, ect. Not sure about the others.

games can be written in any language so long as there is a compiler to support it. Metrowerks has compilers for a few console systems which support c/c++. Ive also heard of a PS2 development kit publicly available but its apparently quite expensive.

unchipped xbox can only run microsoft signed games. Unless you use some sort of savegame exploit.

heh, a $15 dreamcast from the record exchange, a $25 serial cable, and a free download of GCC is a very cost effective solution for console development, especially since the DC does not need modded
