That's exactly my point, most people would have reached for it, but any true Cubs fan would have followed Wrigley tradition and thrown it back.

I do feel bad for him. But for his sake, the Cubs had better win tonight otherwise he stands a good chance of getting killed, no joke either.

OK anyone who blames the loss on that fan is an a-hole and needs a scapegoat badly. He did nothing wrong, he just got cought up in the excitment of the game. He did one legal thing. He did NOT cause the Marlins to get 8 points that inning. He did one thing, not 8 points worth though.

    Cubs out

Well what can ya say, simply heartbreaking. What a series that was though. It was really great baseball, and the better team on this night won. There is always next year though.

    Yes... next year!

Of course if it comes down to the Marlins and Yankees, I'm not even going to bother watching.

It just ticks me off, if the Cubs had won, Chicago fans would be remembering this year for decades. If Florida wins the series, Marlin fans (if there really is such a thing) would remember it for like a day.

If its Yankees vs Marlins I'm done watching baseball forever. Go BOSOX!!!!!

no seriously. the tradition would cause serious problems if it was on foul balls too. The throwing balls back in thing is a gesture of disgust that the other team hit a home run.

I understand what you mean, I'm just saying I go to 30+ games a year and I see foul balls thrown back all the time. If you watched the game in question, one of the first things the anouncers said after the guy tried to catch the ball was why did he do that, it's not like he was going to keep it (something along those lines).

It is pretty silly though, it's much more of a statement when it's a homerun, and if I ever catch a foul ball (20+ years of going to games across the nation and I have never came close) i'm keeping it!
