    Actually that wasnt the original quote - thats a misquote right there. You see, you switched your noun subject from some one (male or female) to a specific one (female).

    The original quote doesn't make this faulter. Them is used in the place of your misquotes she.

    Sorry, i didn't read the rest - its 4am and I'm about to go to sleep . I just had a hankering to be critical of some ones post.

    (it should be realized my posts are all in a light hearted manner. And should not be taken offense to.)

    Very bad habbit - ever got beaten for that?

    Besides I actually copied this from our fun mailing list.
    And I can't care less whether the original version used "them" instead of "she".

    Well, grammatically, it must be either her, him, or it as "someone" is singular, and "them", though gender neutral is plural. Anyways, quite amusing - I like the suspicious one.
    The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.

    Code:
    if(you-love(m_she)) /* m name of girlfriend */
    is that line right? maybe it should be if (you->love(m_she))...

    So to be truly correct it would be (he/she) / (him/her)

    Well, to be both politically and grammatically correct, yes. But why ruin a good quote with political correctness, eh?

    Actually, "them" as a singular has been around since the 1300s, and is finally gaining acceptance as being grammatically correct. Although the old school of thought is still strong, there are a number of big names in the field of english that actually recommend "them" im place of "him or her". Further, as time goes on, more and more people are moving away from the "his or her" camp to the "their" camp.

    Recall, the origin of "proper grammar" was nothing more than a set of people who rather arbitrarily imposed rules upon the English language in the late 18th century. They took their particular dialect, added in some of the rules of Latin, and passed it off as "The English Language." Prior to that time, there was considerable regional variation in spelling, grammar, and pronunciation of words.

    While there is a need for a standardized means of communication, it also needs to be ready to adapt to a changing need of the population, and the grammatical rules should not impede clarity of speech or writing, as "his or her" can easily do.

    You ever try a pink golf ball, Wally? Why, the wind shear on a pink ball alone can take the head clean off a 90 pound midget at 300 yards.

    I just have to say that I don't actually say "he or she" in my sentences (i use "they")

    Them : they :: him : he :: her : she :: me : I

    Of course language is arbitrary, but it still has been codified. My problem with "them" as singlular is that it makes for rather awkward sentences. The English language doesn't have a gender-neutral singular direct object for this purpose. I can't think of any languages that do right off either (if someone knows of one, please feel free to enlighten me, as I am curious about it). Perhaps a flaw of the language rules, but I still think it sounds weird.
