    For some reason I have trouble learning spoken/written languages but am quite adapate at learning programming languages.

    dude, it's been proven in studies, people with more than one language under their belt have a better perspective. It's that simple, learning what other cultures call things, how they represent ideas can do nothing but expand your perception. Being tied to one language limits your perspective in those ways.
