    > ROTFLOL

I think it means Rolling On The Floor Laughing Out Loud. I don't know why people use acronyms. I, personally, hate them.

What is up with cell phones and kids these days? I remember the glory days of high school (ended a year ago) where the only people who carried cell phones were the ritch snobby kids that everybody wanted to beat the **** out of.

And yes, I do not own a cell phone. The last thing I want is to have a way to let the folks (still live with them with leather bondage straps of repression) know what I'm doing and where I'm going after work or classes at good ole Akron University.

In different communities, acronyms may have different meanings. In the online-roleplaying game I used to play, people tended to speak in acronyms all the time, and they were pretty game specific. Someone asking for an Int Pot wasn't trying to get numerically stoned, he wanted a potion to raise intelligence.

When you use acronyms, make sure they are universal enough for all to understand, or rather common enough to look up

I hate acronyms. They waste time and brain cells.
