Thread: FreeBSD rocks!

    FreeBSD rocks!

I just installed FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE on my computer, and I am very impressed. I love the ports system, and I like how customizable it is. You can set this thing up however you want, and you don't have to install a bunch of crap you'll never use.

Everything seems so much more developed and professional than Linux was. I thought Linux was so awesome before trying this, but this is just amazing.

I have converted to the FreeBSD, and I am not looking back.

PS: I'm taking the Linus Torvalds is god out of my profile.
PPS: What is that BSD daemon's name? Does it have one?

I tried it once, wait till you meet some of the people!

That and me being linux brainwashed me more distro hunting.

I would like to try Free and Net again someday....

5.1 is pretty risky. 4.8 is much more stable, with a few less features that you probably don't need anyway.

I'm finally getting an old pentium 4 dell that for free from my high school computer teacher and I'm going to install BSD or some 'nix system other than redhat on it so I can see what Linux is all about.
