but no one posts there. How would I get people to post there, eh? Is it because my board descriptions are worded poorly?
Well its not like as soon as you make a forum people will come running. Boards like CProgramming and FlashDaddee would have taken a few months (even years) to grow to a large enough size that they always have at least 4 people online.
I assume you mean http://lambs4.suddenlaunch2.com/
Advertise your site more, and have content that will attract people and give them a reason to use it. I know nothing about "Stooges", and so I have no reason to post anything there, because I don't have a need to.
Some sites use promotions and incentives to attract users to post. Technoworms for instance had a thing that went something like "post over 10 posts in the forums and you get access to download a Windows Longhorn beta from our site". It caused a lot of one liners and spam posts, but hey - one liners are better than nothing.
I suggest working on the content and the types of users you want to attract, and advertise your forums on other sites that attract these types of people.
Well, I tried to go spam your site for you :P If you try hard enough, you can read my message in the screenshot. I'd advise it, because it's giving me lotsa problems... I'm using Mozilla with the popup blocker enabled, and I also have a HOSTS file blocking most ad servers (supertrick on the kazaa lite site) Oh, and if registration wasn't necessary, more people might post, and then register if it was cool.
I'd say that's why.
Strange, I didnt get no pop ups/crap at all.
Worked fine. Fine for the 15 secs I looked at it anyway.
Such is life.
stooges rock....but i doubt you'll ever break 100 threads, try a new format, your best bet would be to fashion a site now similar to cprog and fd...several general programming and tech topics, a gd, and then leave a topic blank. Wait for a new technology to come out that you think would be big (.NET was a good example of that) and make that the focus of your board. Advertise that, that'll start up traffic and even if that topic dies there's still that many other topics to talk about. Once you start traffic word spreads quickly.
