    NOD32 (www.nod32.com.au ), as it says on their site:

    NOD32 still leads the world in virus detection
    with an unequalled 23 x VB100% Awards !!!

    Thats 23 times they have gotten 100% of the viruses and:

    "was the only program to make a genuine "clean sweep" of every virus in every category!" for VirusBulletin. Its also what MS uses to scan all their code before they release their products (remember: It looks for viruses, not horribly written code )

    Virus scanners:
    a) stop you getting infected in the first place
    b) protect you from trojans etc, which you normally won't notice otherwise.

    Firewalls are a must. Do you really trust every single person with internet access?
