How much does dinner cost in your country if you eat at a restraunt (an average restraunt, not an upscale one)? I'm just trying to see how much things cost in other countries.

There's an Italian place next door that does an excellent meal for under £20 (not including wine and other drinks of course)...about $30
Wow, you people eat expensive. I can usually get a big meal at an okay restaurant for like $15.
Chinese for two normally costs me about £35ish don't know the exchange rate off hand so fraid i can't give it to you in dollars.

Well mine was an example of somewhere I like to go......not counting eating at the canteen in Sainsburys for £7.50 or Burger King or somewhere like that for £5 (::shudder::)
I wasn't talking about fast food either. I can think of several nice sit down bring you dinner restaurants that I can get just about anything for less than $20.

[edit]if ur lucky and find a good place, 10 $ will get u a LONG way! i ate at a chinese place the other day, 10 $ WITH tip, but i couldn;t finish the meal, it was too much (and i got a student's discount....that was the second time i got one of those!)

Yeah, Britain seems to be pretty expensive for food. Most regular restraunts here cost around 10-15 dollars a person (assuming you eat a full meal). I'm waiting to here vasanth respond because AFAIK, things are a lot less expensive in India.
Whoa. 10, 15, 20?I'm guessing that at these prices, nobody is buying drinks? I dont think I've eaten for under 30 bucks for quite a long while... Its not that I couldnt, its just that I wouldnt bother. If I go out, I might as well get the whole deal.

Yes but $20 American buys you the same amount of crap in america as $20 canadian buys you in Canada. As a matter of fact, cost of living in America is higher than it is here in Canada. Relativly speaking, it costs you more than me too eat (compared to the wages one would get from the exact same job).
The only difference is that $20 canadian wont get me much food in the states, whereas $20 american will get you a pretty good meal up here. Its a monetary conversion issue, not an economical one.

the restaurant I work at charges way too much for food. actually it isn't a restaurant if you want to be super technical, it's a pub (a restaurant where smoking and excess drinking and adultery is allowed). I think you'll be hard pressed to spend less than 45$ there, but we have exotic food such as swordfish.
