    Cool Huh !!....

Get a free firewall from ZoneAlarm or anyone else. Get the Patch from MS. Get a cleaning tool.

LOL, I made the mistake of not using a cleaning tool and just deleting C:\WINNT\System32\MSBlast.exe via safemode...

Never patched it either, and guess what? Its baa-ack!

Now its causing errors in istsvc.exe, svchost.exe, and itself LOL

    No restarts though, strange...

Whoever did that thing sure knows what hes doing....
Yeah, he knows how to detect whether a computer is on the internet, then restart it... All via ASM. He needs to get a life and make something useful.

The exploit code was already available on the net. The restart was an unintentional side effect of not putting in an ExitProcessA call after the exploit code. He just slapped a nice shell around a practically finished worm.

Which goes to show how retarded most other people are! The MS patch had been out at least a week maybe two, I had it long before Blaster. Anyone who has no firewall and doesn't update their OS had it coming.

I also get sick of the "Windows is crap" business (like the message the worm displayed when trying to visit MS update). If Linux had as many people searching for vulnerabilities as Windows does, I'm willing to bet they'd be about equal.
    Thor's self help tip:
Maybe a neighbor is tossing leaf clippings on your lawn, looking at your woman, or harboring desires regarding your longboat. You enslave his children, set his house on fire. He shall not bother you again.

    OS: Windows XP
    Compiler: MSVC

Linux has more people searching for vulnerabilities than windows does. That's exactly why it has less vulnerabilities.

You can try a free removal tool that will scan your files and tell you if you have it.

If you learn Windows first, you won't get hit in the future...

Here is a link to a FAQ put out by my ISP. It includes a link to the Symantec W32.Blaster.Worm.Fix Tool.

    Enjoy.
