    Do you wear glasses?

I just had a doctors appointment and found out I probably need to get glasses/contacts or at least go to an optometrist, so I started wondering if nearsightedness relates strongly to computer use. I sorta feel like reading a lot contributes to it, but maybe its just me.

I started wearing glasses at about 18 years old. Discovered that I could read road signs before reaching them!

Recently changed to some new ones, great for driving, but I now find it easier to read or use the computer without. If I have them on, I need to be about 2m from the book or screen to be able to read it!

Still, the incedible headaches I used to have as a child have gone.

I wear glasses when I'm reading or on the computer.

I've only been wearing them for a few months now.

I think that spending so much time in front of my computer has caused my vision to go bad. Before getting glasses, if I spent more than a few hours in front of a computer, my eyes would start to cramp up, and my vision would start to go blurry.

But that's my experience. Glasses are great

Odd, I just voted on the poll, after 18 votes, 68.5% say they wear glasses and 10.5% wear contacts: 79% total...

    Must be computers!

Had an eye test two weeks ago, the guy said I had perfect vision. I would lose/break/reverse engineer any glasses in my vicinity within a day anyway.

actually... that has something to do with it but its actually excessive masturbation. I have eyes like a hawk.

edit: by that I mean masturbation causes blindness not prevents it...

I wear glasses, and I can say, computers do not cause your eyes to go bad. In fact, nearsightedness is your lens is too powerful, causing the focus point to be too far ahead of the retina. Glasses technically make your eyes weaker if you are nearsighted. This is why when someone with good eyes, or better eyes than someone elses prescription level wears their glasses, things get blurry, because it is making your farsighted.

On Farsightedness, thats when your eyes are weaker, and the focus point of your lens is actually behind your retina, so the glasses your get for farsightedness increase the focus of the light before reaching your lens.

I actually only found this stuff out a few weeks ago when i was getting an eye checkup, and asked the optomitrist about what the lenses in glasses do.
