I think you just use [ img ]url [/ img ]. No spaces
No, img tags are disabled. Use the attach file thing below the box for your message. .jpg, .jpeg, and .gif will be displayed in the thread. .bmp will have to be downloaded seperately through a link in the thread, which I assume is also the case for .png

I've never heard a sensible reason. reasons related to bandwidth make no sense because they allow attachments which are stored on the server itself. img tags don't use up server bandwidth. I think it is silly personally.
