    Phone conduct

I'm afraid that neither of my parents have taught me much conduct. It just came to my mind that when calling someone on the phone, if you should,

    1. begin by introducing yourself like 'Hi, this is me' and then wait for the other person to say 'Oh, hello', and then state your business.

    or if you should,

    2. introduce yourself and then directly state your business, like 'Hi, this is me, could I speak with that person?".

Which one of these two do you use and why?

I'm guessing that most people probably wait for a response. I do I suppose. You should because some people would hang up on you when they found out who you were, especially if you're from sweden

I usually just yell the person's name at the top of my lungs until I get a response.

Or I say "Hi, this is Jeremy, can I talk to blahblahblah?"

I use both depending on in what mood I am...
They say that if you play a Windows Install CD backwords, you hear satanic messages. That's nothing; play it forward and it installs Windows.

I'm a Professional Reluctance Handler with MCI now. Yup, that's the name MCI supposedly gives us, but I like to not be gay and call myself a sales rep or telemarketer instead. The pay is going to be great (today was only my 3rd day, and I'm still in training), even though, I'm selling myself out.

Or I say "Hi, this is Jeremy, can I talk to blahblahblah?"
How come you don't use your real name--Govtcheez? No use in making silly names like Jeremy up.

Zewu, what sort of call are you pertaining to? I think with each call and each relationship you have with a person the edicate (sp?) you take with a call differs.
