You shouldn't have to pay that much for it. VB by itself is way cheaper than that.
And a warning to future posters in this thread. Anyone advising warez will be banned without notice. I'm sick of that crap popping up in every thread like this.

If you just want to mess around. No need to buy, if your computer has MS Office, just open up Word or Outlook and go to "Tools" then "Macro" and then "Visual Basic Editor" and mess around all you like.
--edit--
You just cant compile to .exe file. You can run it and have it do anything though
--edit #2--

The keyboard is the standard device used to cause computer errors!
yeah, what's the meaning of bloating MS Office with Visual Basic? I don't get it, and I can't believe that many people actually use it to add extra functionality to Word. I'm sure Microsoft, in it's infinite wisdom, has a good reason for adding another useless feature and bloating the size of the program, but I sure don't see it
Away.
You can create small executables that will run when you click a hyperlink. Its cool. I made a presentation that explained how to get some calculations and inserted a program to do those calculations to see the results.

Just get the learning edition of VB. Shouldn't run you more than $30. You cant make .exe's though, but everything else is there. <Mod edit.>
