    New Bench Press Record

    //old record
    //185lbs * 5 repititions
    //Olympic free weights
    Well I finally did my 6th workout. When it came to bench press I did 185 * 7 repititions. Than I tried for more weight.

    //new record
    //205lbs * 4 repititions
    //Olympic free weights
    I'm talking free weights, not machine. I could likely add another 50 lbs if I benched on a machine, and another 20 lbs free weight if I used a thin bar rather than an olympic bar.

    Can you beat this? I know some guys can, crush this, but it's not that bad for a programmer!

    I used to max 275 for two reps when I was a mountain biker. (I would work my way up in a pyramid from 200 and back down.) Now I am lazy and getting chubby due to too much computer time. Of course I am 6 foot three inches and rather largely built. My friend could easily bench 300 and he was 5'10". He was amazing.

    I just started to work out. I will probably be up to 245 - 270 lbs by Christmas. I'm 6 ft 235lbs right now. I was getting fat and out of shape, but I guess it won't take long to be back in shape. I should get down to 210 lbs. I went up 20 lbs in weight in one workout. I don't expect that to continue, but for most people, they would be lucky if they could max out at 185 for more than 2 - 3 repititons. If you benched 275 than you are indeed one big dude.

    Too True!! Im thinking of buying a drive train that powers my compter monitor for work. It works just like a bike you have to pedal to supply power to the monitor. It seems the perfect fix for office dwellers. I think my muscles are starting to atrophy...

    I've started getting into shape again... i don't lift really significant amounts of weight as of yet, but i'm only 15, and i'm only around 125 pounds.. i'm just trying to stay/get into shape.

    I can bench only like 120 now, but is should get that up within the next few months...

    I've been doing all types of stuff recently: benching, military press, reverse curls, etc. i try to keep the weight around half my body weight so i can do like 2 sets of each at 12 reps a set. It's a good work out...

    You think you're all strong, eh?

    Last time I tried to bench the lowest weight (forty pounds, maybe) it allowed, I couldn't even lift that. That was some three years ago--soon after I started learning C++. Anyway, you may be wondering how much I can bench now: The answer is zero! The reason is somewhat long, but let's just say I had a cycling accident that required surgery. How much will I be able to bench when I'm recovered? I hope it'll be more than forty pounds!

    The strength isn't in the arms; it's in the legs!

    This is true, and the reason is because the legs are the largest muscle in the body. I'm just beginning to do deadlifts. Since it is only my 6th workout I'm just begining to get into some serious exercises and serious weight.

    That's it. Now I feel like a wimp. I thought that 205 lbs for 4 reps was good. Although I do not plan to do bench press next workout, I will bench on either Saturday or Sunday this week. Damn it. I'm going for 225 lbs. This is exactly 2 - 45lb plates on both sides of the olympic bar. By the way, this is real, I don't know if I can bench 225lbs yet. If I feel at all good during the workout though I will attempt it!

    Dude... that is awesome. Keep it up. Don't quit. You are giving me motivation to start tomorrow. I have a free gym here at work. I am bringing in my clothes and givin it a go. I bet I can barely bench 180 now. My arms are looking pretty spindly.

    Exciting stuff. You da man...

    I don't want to go past 315lbs. I don't want to become a body builder. Tell me how much you bench when you work out, although your first few workouts you might want to go light.

    I just did 105 reps :: fork-to-mouth (1):: :: fork-to-mouth (2) ::

    :: fork-to-mouth (3) ... :: fork-to-mouth (104) :: :: fork-to-mouth (105); ugh! whew!

    That was tough. I'm exhausted. But thoroughly refreshed. I love
    working out. (belch...fart!)
