I do not believe in IQ tests. They prove nothing, and are a waste of time.

I totally agree, Shadow. According to the official Govtcheez IQ test I administered offline to myself (you can tell it's a better test 'cause it's not online), I scored apple/raspberry. I'm not sure what it means, but I checked it on their scale, and it said "farfegnugen". That's right below "All New Version 7.0!" and right above "Screwdriver". I'm pretty sure that's good.
So you have the intellect rivalled only by inanimate objects?
    Amazing.

Well imo online iq tests r all crap, and ones on tv r also crap. Very inaccurate. Yes, you can measure a person's intellectual capacity, but to a degree. To get an accurate result, u really need a professional session with a psychiatrist or something, takes a few hours etc.

Here's a relatively unknown "fact": If you score 80 or below and demand a rescore, your IQ is automagically raised one standard deviation. If you score 130 or above and proceed to boast about it to everyone you know and even don't know, your IQ is lowered two standard deviations.

    Only happens in Florida.
The word rap as it applies to music is the result of a peculiar phonological rule which has stripped the word of its initial voiceless velar stop.

I was told I have an IQ of 132, but that was three years ago, when I was 18.

I'll agree that IQ tests are far from perfect, but that doesn't mean they're worthless. They are necessary for testing extremes such as mental retardation and giftedness. Standardized testing for such things is essential in public education. However, if one guy gets a 140 and another gets 141, that doesn't mean jack $$$$. Comparing IQ scores that are all in the genius range is rather pointless.

"If you cannot grok the overall structure of a program while taking a shower, you are not ready to code it." -- Richard Pattis.

I think they are fairly useless, there are many other ways to diagnose mental retardation other than IQ. I don't buy IQ as a usefull test for "giftedness" or rather i don't see it adding anything to the obvious social tests we all use (academic ability, musical talent, 'intelligent' remarks etc.).

The problem is by using a (supposedly) standardised test and marketing it as science (its is most definately NOT) people are led to believe that the IQ test is a "real" test of intelligence, that someone with say 118 IS less 'intelligent' than someone with say 136.

186 - advanced genius. Those of you who know me well will just view this as PROOF that IQ tests prove nothing.
